Conomurex luhuanus(Linnaeus, 1758)
Conomurex luhuanus is often mistaken for a Cone snail, mainly because of the conoidal outline of its shell.Conomurex luhuanus is harmless. The shellis relatively unusual among the Family of Strombidae.
The shell can be either white with an orange, brown/tan pattern of blotches, or completely brown or white in colour. Inside the shell is strong orange, red or pink in colour. Most specimens have an orange-red aperture, hence the common name (Blood mouth conch). A few, however have apertures either yellow or pure white.
Conomurex luhuanus has a sickle-shaped operculum, also use for defense. These conch's are able to jumpi away with their power molluscy foot.
It is from the Indopazifik and feed on detritus and worms (Polychaeta).
