Although it is listed as such in some places, this is not Xanthidae Xanthias maculatus (see http://species-identification.org/species.php?species_group=crabs_of_japan&id=1314&menuentry=soorten), The animal, which gave us Michael Hartl as photograph comes from the Philippines. Unfortunately, many more currently are not known.

Ich halte dieses Tier seit 1 Monat in meinem Becken. Die Krabbe ist Nachtaktiv, kommt aber mittlerweile auch am Tag herraus, wenn es Futter gibt. Sie frißt anscheinend alles, was an Futter angeboten wird, außerdem auch Kugelalgen!
Möglicherweise frißt sie auch Krustenanemonen, jedenfalls hat sie bei mir zwei kleine Kolonien vom Stein gepflückt und in ihre Höhle verschleppt, ich konnte sie ihr aber weider abnehmen. Also besser nicht zusammen mit Krusten pflegen.
An andere Korallen oder Anemonen geht sie nicht, meine Einsiedler, Schnecken und Grundeln werden auch in ruhe gelassen.
