Stichopus herrmanni have a widespread Indo-West Pacific distribution. Ecology: benthic, inshore, detritus feeder, deposit feeder

This sea cucumber is host to the pearlfish Carapus mourlani and Carapus homei.

There is a commercial fishery for this species in Indonesia and northern Australia.
