Info
Nototodarus hawaiiensis is a rather small squid widespread in the Pacific Ocean, which, as the species name indicates, was first described as originating from the waters of Haiwaii.
The cold-water-loving squid has no aquaristic importance, but it is caught in large quantities by commercial fishermen, as it forms large shoals in search of food.
Occurrence:on continental shelf and slope waters, oceanic seamounts, ridges and banks.
Behavior: In Hawaiiian waters can be divided into two groups: insular and oceanic species.
Synonyms:
Nototodarus nipponicus Okutani & Uemura, 1973
Nototodarus philippinensis Voss, 1962
Nototodarus sloanii philippinensis Voss, 1962
Ommastrephes hawaiiensis Berry, 1912
