Microprosthema semilaeve (von Martens, 1872)

Microprosthema semilaeve, a fairly common shrimp of reefal habitats in the Western Atlantic and Caribbean.

The body coloration is a deep red with white patches dorsally on the carapace and abdomen. Crimson Lima Shrimp can be found on hard bottom, coral rubble and rockpools. This species lives often in assoziation with Lima scabra (refer to the common name "Crimson Lima Shrimp").

Similar to Microprosthema validum.
