Western Atlantic: southern Florida in USA and Bahamas to northern South America.

Biology
Occurs in rocky areas along quiet shores, usually in less than 3 m depth.
Feeds on polychaete worms, crustaceans and filamentous algae.
Oviparous.
Eggs are demersal and adhesive.
