Acanthopleura granulata (Gmelin, 1791)

Acanthopleura granulata consists of 8 plates. Around the plates is a gray girdle with black bands. Hair-like spines on the girdle give it a furry imppression. The brown plates are usually eroded or encrusted with algae.

Acanthopleura granulata is common all over the Caribbean.It lives on hard substrates.
