This species has a sponge-like appearance. Atagema spongiosa is greenish-brown or dark reddish-brown in colour.It grows up to 18 cm in length.Atagema spongiosa exclusively feeds on sponges.

Atagema spongiosa formerly known as Trippa spongiosa.
