Captive breeding / propagation

The offspring of Petrophyllia rediviva are possible. Unfortunately, the number of offspring is not large enough to cover the demand of the trade. If you are interested in Petrophyllia rediviva, please ask your dealer for offspring. If you already own Petrophyllia rediviva, try breeding yourself. This will help to improve the availability of offspring in the trade and to conserve natural stocks.

Info

Petrophyllia rediviva or Arcohelia rediviva was considered a fossil coral until 1979, but some small living colonies were discovered, these colonies fetched absolute top prices in the USA for this non-zooxanthellae living stony coral.
The coral needs a normal strong current and lighting.

We thank Brett Harris, Cherry Corals, USA for the permission to use the photo of this really nice coral rarity.

Synonym: Archohelia rediviva Wells & Alderslade, 1979
