Info

West of Tortuga Island, Venezuela, Barbados the scale worm Parahololepidella nuttingi could be detected on black corals.

The worm occurs as commensal on various corals, for example on the black coral Tanacetipathes tanacetum (Pourtalès, 1880), in the first description still named as Antipathes tanacetum Pourtalès, 1880, see first description from page 716.

Etymology.
The species name "nuttingi" honors the American curator Professor Charles Cleveland Nutting, leader of the Barbados-Antigua Expedition of 1918.
Professor Nutting was a specialist in hydroid polyps and black corals.

Similar species: Parahololepidella greeffi (Augener, 1918)

Synonym: Antipathipolyeunoa nuttingi Pettibone, 1991
