Info

Trapezia septata Dana, 1852

Trapezia crabs protect their home coral from predators, such as starfish, and in return receive a good hiding place and coral slime from the coral.

Trapezia septata is colloquially known as honeycomb coral crab. It has a honeycomb like very beautiful pattern. There are reports of commensalism between the honeycomb coral crab and the SPS coral Pocillopora verrucosa from Singapore.

Synonymised names:
Trapezia areolata inermis A. Milne-Edwards, 1873
Trapezia reticulata Stimpson, 1858 (junior synonym)
