Distribution
Eastern Pacific: Oregon, USA to Gulf of California and the Galapagos Islands.

Biology
Commonly found in sandy and muddy bays and sloughs, also on rocky bottom and in kelp beds.
Sometimes buries itself in sand.
Found singly or in schools.
Feeds on bivalves, snails, polychaetes, shrimps, and crabs.
Ovoviviparous. Venomous spine on tail!
