Info
Although the stony coral Astrangia dentata lives in light shallow marine zone, it is still an azooxanthellate coral that lives by catching small plankton.
Astrangia dentata is a colonial large-polyped stony coral that forms crustose aggregations predominantly on rocks and cliffs.
Unfortunately, very little is known about the biology of this coral.
We would like to thank Dr. Petr Myska who kindly allowed us to use his great photos of the coral.
Synonym: Astrangia (Astrangia) dentata Verrill, 1866
